The Earth Store Sutra is considered a sutra about filiality, and a mirror which clearly reflects the principles of cause and effect. Only by reading the sutra with a calm mind will we be able to understand.

It is stated in the Earth Store Sutra, “The power of karma is extremely great. It rivals Mount Sumeru in its heights. It surpasses the great oceans in its depths. It obstructs the path leading to sagehood.” If we are completely pure in our cultivation of virtuous karma, it can also obstruct our negative karma, so that we are unsuccessful in unwholesome endeavors. Even if bad people come to find us, we will not engage in anything unwholesome.
